Charterhouse Success Stories

I joined Charterhouse in October 2005 with 3 years recruitment experience from an international high street consultancy.

Although I was passionate and driven by what I did, I wanted to work for a company who could offer me more in terms of honing my talents and progressing my career.

I was attracted to Charterhouse, as they were, and still are, an independent, specialist consultancy. Working here, consultants have complete ownership to look after their own desks, but are also offered the support and structure they need to build extremely successful and lucrative careers.

I joined, at first, a relatively small, but successful Office Support Division as a permanent consultant. The last three years have seen huge growth in this area, and we continue to build long-lasting and successful relationships with a wide-range of clients in the West Yorkshire market. I have also been given the opportunity to use my talents in business development and training to help others in the business.

In the summer of 2007, I was encouraged to set up a temporary division for Office Support. This has been a massive success for the Leeds branch, and has allowed us to promote one of our Resourcer´s into a successful consultant to work alongside me on the Temporary desk.

The past year has been a challenging one for me, but with constant guidance and support from my managers and Directors, I have recently been promoted to Senior Consultant.

I am extremely proud of all of my achievements with Charterhouse, and can´t wait to see what the future holds for me, especially with such a supportive and motivating company behind me.

What initially attracted me to Charterhouse still remains true today; a professional, consultative recruitment organisation who really care about their staff and treat them as individuals. I moved from a generalist recruitment background, working for both for a big national high street agency as well as an independent, so the chance to specialise in Accountancy and Finance recruitment appealed to me.

Upon joining in August 2004 I trained alongside experienced colleagues on a busy temps desk in Leeds. In November 2004 I was delighted to be given the chance to move and work on our York branch opening, and establish a new market. My job in York has been extremely varied – business development, networking, mentoring others, as well as day to day recruitment for a whole range of clients, from small sole traders to Global Blue Chip businesses. This has been a fantastic experience and I'm extremely proud to have been part of the team that has established a thriving branch from scratch.

I think as an experienced consultant it's easy to get 'stuck' in the same job after a while, but the Directors at Charterhouse are constantly challenging me to become better at my job and push myself out of my comfort zone. I achieved a promotion to Senior Consultant in January 2007 and I'm delighted to have been asked to manage our new branch in Hull, which opened in December 2008.

I've never doubted that joining Charterhouse was the right decision and I can't wait to work as part of the management team to continue to grow our business in Hull and beyond.

Trainee to Successful Temps Consultant: Alyson Conway (Joined May 2004)

"I joined Charterhouse as a business graduate with 12 months telesales experience and a desire to work in recruitment industry, I had heard and spoken to a number of people within the industry and realised this was the career for me. It was made clear to me by the management team at Charterhouse that the transition from trainee to consultant would be a steep learning curve.

As promised I was subject to an initial 12 weeks intensive induction programme which covered the role in detail and involved shadowing and working with an experienced consultant to develop the skills required.

During this time I was also put through the REC Foundation Award in Recruitment course, which laid out best practice but also identified further formal training courses I required. To my delight, I received a merit!

After the 12-week review I continued with a dedicated training plan, which outlined my particular areas for development, assisted me in reaching those standards expected and aided me in taking responsibility for my own desk within the temporary market.

The next 12 months were a massive challenge but with continued support, coaching and mentoring I was very successful, which in turn ensured I earned the money I craved! My first year's income was £30k and I was delighted.

I feel from the time I started with Charterhouse I have had the support and guidance I needed to become a successful recruitment consultant and I know that I have an exciting and challenging career ahead."

“Tania was thoroughly professional in her approach when I contacted her to source alternative employment for me.

Tania’s demeanour was outstanding and she shone out, well above others.

Always returning calls, I was always kept in the picture about roles she felt I would excel in and roles which she didn’t think I would be challenged enough.

I have no hesitation in recommending Tania and have no hesitation in approaching her again for myself or when I am sourcing future candidates for any companies I am involved in."
